The meaning of the name

Ánanda: bliss.
Márga: the path.

The “Path of Bliss” points toward a happiness that reaches beyond passing pleasures: the lasting peace and fulfillment of self-realization.

Founded in 1955 by Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrti, also known as Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, Ánanda Márga offers a practical way of life for physical, mental and spiritual development. Meditation and service are its two inseparable aims.

About Ánanda Márga

The guiding ideal

“Self-realization and the
welfare of the universe.”

Two aims · One path

Grow within.
Give to the world.

Spiritual growth and social responsibility belong together. The qualities cultivated in meditation find their expression in how we live and serve.

01 / Self-realization

Discover our deeper nature

Regular meditation turns the mind inward toward Supreme Consciousness. Yoga, ethical living and self-discipline support this search, helping us bring greater awareness and balance into daily life.

02 / Collective welfare

Help others move forward

Selfless service responds to people’s immediate needs and supports their long-term development. It means sharing our time, knowledge and resources while respecting the dignity and potential of every person.

A complete way of life

Body, mind
and spirit.

The path brings practical habits and spiritual disciplines into everyday living. Each aspect supports the others.

01 / Physical

Care for the body

Yoga postures, personal hygiene, a sentient vegetarian diet and a balanced daily routine create a foundation for spiritual practice.

02 / Mental

Expand the mind

Learning, reflection and ethical conduct encourage us to question narrow thinking and develop understanding, compassion and a wider outlook.

03 / Spiritual

Deepen awareness

Meditation develops concentration and directs the mind toward the limitless source of peace, love and bliss within.

One cosmic family

A love without
boundaries.

Ánanda Márga recognizes one limitless Supreme Consciousness and regards all beings as members of one cosmic family.

This universal outlook reaches beyond nationality, race, religion, class and gender. It extends care to animals, plants and the whole natural world. Spiritual life asks us to honor that connection in our relationships, our choices and our service.
